Our History

Calvary Preschool was founded in the fall of 1973 under Calvary Church.

Under the name of Calvary Nursery School, 22 students were enrolled in two classes. In the spring of 1992, the name of the school was changed to Calvary Preschool to better depict the programs being offered. In 1999, we moved from Esbenshade Road to Landis Valley Road when the new church facility was built.

We expanded in 2008, providing larger classrooms, a library, additional playground space, a welcome area including administrative offices, and a covered ramp. This year, our 40+ staff members will serve approximately 250 children and their families in 18 classes.

  • Andrea Weaver

    Preschool Director Assistant

Andrea works with Calvary Preschool, overseeing billing and contracts, ordering supplies, organizing the preschool library, and assisting with special events. Before joining the preschool staff in 2013, Andrea’s three children attended CPS, and their experience was an incredible blessing. Now, Andrea appreciates the relationships she’s built with coworkers, students, and their families. Andrea and her husband enjoy spending time with their three children—who all play sports! When not watching them play, they enjoy hiking and traveling.

  • Susan Hixson

    Preschool Director

    sh****@***********ch.org

Susan oversees Calvary Preschool—a ministry of Calvary Church that provides a biblically-based education for families in our community. It brings Susan great joy to teach children about God’s love, to minister to local families through their children, and to encourage the CPS staff to do the same. Before going back to school for early childhood education, Susan studied political science and broadcast journalism, and she worked in news for a local radio station. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, gardening, trail walking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their four sons.
